Have you voted yet? With the November 3, 2026, general election approaching, Iowa voters still have time to make a plan to cast their ballots.
Early in-person absentee voting began October 14 and continues through Monday, November 2. Voters who have not yet cast their ballots can also vote in person on Election Day, Tuesday, November 3, when polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
The November general election will include federal, state and local races. Voters are encouraged to review the candidates and issues on their ballots, verify their registration information and confirm their assigned polling location before heading to the polls.
In Wapello County, residents can vote early at the Wapello County Auditor’s Office inside the courthouse at 101 West Fourth Street in Ottumwa. The office is also scheduled to be open Saturday, October 31, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. for voting.
Iowa’s deadline to request an absentee ballot by mail has passed. Voters who already received an absentee ballot should make sure it is returned to the county auditor by 8 p.m. on Election Day. Ballots must be received by the deadline; a postmark alone does not guarantee they will be counted.
Eligible Iowans who have not registered may still register and vote on Election Day at the polling place assigned to their current address. Identification and proof of residency may be required.
Before heading out, voters should check their polling location and make sure they have an acceptable form of identification.

Election Day is Tuesday, November 3.
