Tim Northcutt, 72 of Lynnville, passed away Friday, September 4, 2026, at the Pella Regional Hospital in Pella. A Celebration of Life will be held this fall, and a date and time will be set very soon.
Timothy Lee Northcutt, the son of Gordon and Marilyn (Hinmon) Northcutt, was born on September 5, 1953, in Oskaloosa, Iowa. He graduated from North Mahaska High School with the class of 1972 then attended William Penn University. Tim hauled milk for his dad and uncle before taking over the business and having his brother, Kelly, join him in the business following his graduation from high school. Tim also farmed, starting at a young age with his father eventually purchasing his own land and farming on his own. On May 5, 1979, Tim was united in marriage to Cynthia Vitera at the United Methodist Church in Taintor. To this union two children were born, Chris and Sarah. In 1988, Tim began working at Vermeer Manufacturing for over 25 years, retiring in 2015. Following retirement, Tim stayed busy on the farm eventually renting out the land but continued to raise his cattle.
Tim loved fishing, hunting, mushroom hunting, tinkering, had a massive garden that seemed to get bigger every year, making homemade ice cream, growing strawberries and spending the summer months at their lake house at Lake Ponderosa. He was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan holding football season tickets at one time. He enjoyed playing baseball in high school and wore the number 2 where his friends called him Deuce and still do to this day. He also played slow pitch softball for several years, joining the Babe Ruth League in Oskaloosa. Tim also enjoyed golfing and was a member of Prairie Knolls Country Club. He also enjoyed playing board games, dice games, card games and had a Christmas tradition playing the Game of Things with his family. Tim was a hard worker, and people knew where they stood with him. When the work was done, he would enjoy a good Western or War Movie.
Above all, Tim loved his family and loved making memories with them, especially his grandchildren. He loved sharing memories and telling stories of his grandchildren on the tractor, combine, and boat. They were the light of his life, picking up his grandson from school, getting corn out of the bin to feed the cows with his grandchildren, teaching them how to do things way before they were old enough and having them ride on his lap on the tractor or combine.
Tim’s legacy will be honored by his wife, Cindy of Lynnville; his children, Chris (Debra) Northcutt of Pella and Sarah (Anthony) Miller of Clarion; four grandchildren, Nathan Northcutt, Howard Miller, Hayden Tillman and Owen Miller; his brothers, Terry (Linda) Northcutt of Hedrick and Kelly Northcutt of Lynnville; his sister, Cynthia (Dennis) Hatten of Castle Rock, CO along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister-in-law, Teresa Northcutt.
