Race fans and drivers will have to wait another year for one of the biggest late-model events at Knoxville Raceway.
The 22nd Lucas Oil Late Model Knoxville Nationals has been called off after several rounds of heavy rain left track conditions unsuitable for racing. More rain is also expected through the weekend.
Knoxville Raceway and Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series officials made the decision after keeping a close eye on the weather and consulting with BAM Weather.
Officials say canceling the event now was the best option for drivers and fans who would have been traveling to Knoxville from across the country. An early announcement also gives teams and spectators a chance to avoid additional expenses for fuel, lodging and other travel costs.
Tickets and camping purchases will be refunded to customers’ Knoxville Raceway accounts and may be applied toward the 2027 Lucas Oil Late Model Knoxville Nationals, set for September 16th through the 18th.
Anyone who would rather receive a refund can contact the Knoxville Raceway ticket office at 641-842-5431.
