The Ottumwa Leadership Academy (O.L.A.) is celebrating a major milestone as it welcomes its 15th Leadership Academy class. To commemorate the occasion, O.L.A. is taking a look back at the people who have helped shape the program throughout its history with a special twist on the traditional dean role.
For the 2027 class, O.L.A. will welcome eight former deans as Visiting Deans, with a different former dean leading each session throughout the year.
The Visiting Dean lineup includes:
- Marlene Sprouse – Class of 2021 Dean
- Jeff Hendred – Class of 2026 Dean
- Joel Pedersen – Class of 2022 Dean
- Gayla Harrison – Class of 2024 Dean
- Jill Budde – Class of 2025 Dean
- Russ Sporer – Class of 2013 Dean
- Tom Lazio – Class of 2023 Dean
- Ted Haas – Class of 2014 Dean
The unique approach will give members of the 15th Leadership Academy class the opportunity to learn from leaders who have previously served as O.L.A. deans and played a role in the program’s continued development.
For the first fourteen years, the Ottumwa Leadership Academy has brought together community leaders to build connections, expand their understanding of the community and develop leadership skills that extend well beyond the classroom. The program has created a strong network of alumni and community leaders who continue to make an impact throughout the Ottumwa area.
The 2027 Visiting Dean experience is designed to celebrate that history while creating a memorable experience for the newest class of O.L.A. participants.
