Three Maharishi International University men’s basketball players recently stepped away from the court to spend time with young readers at the Fairfield Public Library’s Market Storytime in Howard Park, according to a press release from the Fairfield Area Chamber of Commerce.
KeeMaryon Hargrow, Kyle Woods, and Cephas Johnson read with children and families during the Fairfield Farmers Market, bringing new faces to a familiar community gathering and giving young readers the chance to spend time with college athletes who call Fairfield home.
The appearance reflects the kind of program Head Men’s Basketball Coach Romel Bryant is building at MIU. Alongside competition, Bryant has emphasized student-athlete development and relationships with the Fairfield community, and the Storytime visit gave Hargrow, Woods, and Johnson a way to put that commitment into practice.
The Fairfield Public Library noted the visit was a welcome surprise for families who attend the weekly event. Market Storytime takes place Wednesdays at 4:00 p.m. in Howard Park through the end of October.
