The City of Mount Pleasant is notifying residents of temporary road and vehicle restrictions at McMillan Park this weekend due to a private railroad event hosted by Midwest Central Railroad.
The event will include private train rides, photography opportunities, and railroad activities. Because of the event, portions of the park will be closed to vehicle traffic at various times on Saturday, September 26, and Sunday, September 27.
Closure Schedule
Saturday, September 26:
- 6 a.m. to noon: The main park road will remain open. The Farmers Market will operate as usual, with normal parking and access.
- 10 a.m. to noon: The park will be closed to vehicle traffic.
- 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.: The main park road will be closed to vehicle traffic.
Sunday, September 27:
- 6 a.m. to 4 p.m.: McMillan Park will be closed to vehicle traffic.
- Beginning at 4 p.m.: The park will reopen to vehicle traffic, with the east and west gates, along with the remaining park gates, fully reopening.
The railroad event is private and is not open to the public. Event parking will be available on private property, not inside the park area. Residents are asked to respect all posted signs, stay clear of the train tracks and railroad equipment, and avoid entering private property.
