A Van Buren County 4-H leader with nearly two decades of service has been inducted into the Iowa 4-H Hall of Fame, according to Iowa State University Extension and Outreach.
Christine “Chrissy” Westercamp was inducted on Sunday, August 23rd at a ceremony held during the Iowa State Fair. Westercamp has devoted nearly 20 years to strengthening the Van Buren County 4-H program through her leadership, service, and passion for youth development.
As leader of the Jolly Trio 4-H Club, Westercamp has created a supportive and encouraging environment where members are empowered to learn, grow, and succeed. She consistently goes above and beyond to ensure that each member feels valued and motivated to reach their full potential. Her expertise in rabbit and poultry projects has made her a trusted resource for families across the county, and her commitment extends far beyond scheduled meetings as she makes herself readily available to support youth and fellow volunteers whenever needed.
In addition to her work at the club level, Westercamp has served as Chair of the Van Buren County Extension Council and as a representative for the Iowa Extension Council Association, advocating for strong programming and helping ensure the continued growth and success of 4-H and Extension initiatives across the region.
Her dedication, encouragement, and leadership have had a lasting impact on countless youth and families in Van Buren County, inspiring members to step outside their comfort zones and try new experiences — an approach that embodies the spirit of 4-H.
