The Iowa State Fair is officially underway, bringing thousands of Iowans together for 11 days of food, entertainment, agriculture and tradition.
Across the fairgrounds, visitors will find livestock shows, 4-H and FFA competitions, small businesses, live entertainment and plenty of fair food. For many families, however, the Iowa State Fair is about much more than what happens inside the gates.
It is a place where generations return year after year, old friends reconnect along the Grand Concourse and people from communities across the state come together to celebrate what makes Iowa special.
For many Iowans, the fair is also a family tradition. One Iowa family is continuing that tradition this year, returning to the fair with six children to enjoy the sights, reconnect with friends and make new memories.
From the livestock barns to the Grandstand and everything in between, the Iowa State Fair once again offers a chance to celebrate Iowa’s people, agriculture and communities.
For the next 11 days, the fairgrounds will be a gathering place for Iowans from across the state — and a reminder that some of the best traditions are the ones we share together.
