Steven Philip Fenton, age 63, of Batavia, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, July 29, 2026. A funeral service honoring
his life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at Bladensburg Christian Church, rural Ottumwa, IA,
with Pastor Larry Smith officiating. Burial will be in Batavia Cemetery immediately following the service. Visitation
will be held on Friday, August 14, 2026, at Cranston Family Funeral Home in Fairfield, beginning at 2:00 p.m., with
family present to greet friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Memorial contributions in Steven’s honor may be

Steven was born in Ottumwa, Iowa, on June 28, 1963, to David and Marilyn Fenton (née Bradfield). He grew up
with his three older siblings, Rayanne, Julie, and Brian.
Steven graduated from Cardinal High School in Eldon, IA, in 1981 with many academic and sports accolades. He
attended the University of Iowa, where he met the love of his life, Angela Gilmore. They married August 1st, 1985,
at the Little Brown Church in the Vale in Nashua, IA and remained happily married for nearly 35 years until
Angela’s passing in March 2020.
Steven completed his studies, earning a Bachelor of Computer Science from DeVry University in Kansas City,
Missouri, and began a career as an IT professional in the St. Louis area, where he worked primarily for First Data
Corporation and Wolff Shoe. It was in the St. Louis area that they raised their son, Nathan.
Steven is survived by his son, Nathan (Josie) Fenton of St. Charles, MO; his siblings: Rayanne Shannon (Michael) of
Fargo, ND; Julie Ridgely (Robert) of Grimes, IA; and Brian Fenton of Ankeny, IA; his brother- and sisters-in-law:
Darcy (Scott) Woodburn and Vicky Jacobs; and his nephews and nieces: Derek Shannon, Erin Brand (Nathan), Emily
Dodd (Ryan), Joshua Ridgely (Tina), Aaron Ridgely (Mari), Clayton Fenton, Devyn Rich (Philip), Shelbi Martinez
(Marvin), Shane Gilmore, and Savannah Gilmore.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Angela Fenton; his parents, David and Marilyn Fenton; his father- and
mother-in-law, Larry and Patricia Gilmore; his brother-in-law, Rick Gilmore; and his nephew, Creighton Woodburn.
