Pella Regional Health Center has welcomed a new orthopedic specialist to its medical staff with the arrival of Dr. Neil Schwimley, who officially began seeing patients on July 31.

A board-certified orthopedic surgeon and fellowship-trained sports medicine specialist, Dr. Schwimley brings more than 25 years of experience in both medicine and military service. He is now practicing at the Pella Regional Medical Clinic in Pella, where he will provide orthopedic and sports medicine care to patients throughout the region.

During his military career, Dr. Schwimley served as the only orthopedic surgeon assigned to Forward Surgical Teams during deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan. His service earned numerous military honors, including the Bronze Star Medal.

In addition to his military background, Dr. Schwimley has extensive experience caring for athletes. He previously served as Team Orthopedic Surgeon for the University of Northern Iowa, William Penn University, Wartburg College, Oskaloosa High School, and Waterloo West High School.

Dr. Schwimley said he is looking forward to reconnecting with area schools and athletic programs while establishing long-term relationships with patients and families in the Pella community. He noted that his previous work with William Penn University gave him familiarity with the area and said he is excited to once again support local athletes and provide orthopedic care close to home.
