Larry Douglas Rudder, 85, of Birmingham died at 8:43 p.m. October 22, 2026 at Ottumwa Regional Health Center.
He was born December 16, 1940 in Granite City, IL to Luther and Naomi French Rudder. Larry married Jeanette Spainhower January 1962.
Larry graduated from Granite City High School and earned a specialist degree from Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville, IL. He was a minister and professional gospel singer.
Larry was a past member of Calvary Baptist Church in Granite City, IL. He enjoyed writing, recording and singing music. He also enjoyed drawing and writing books.
Surviving is his wife, Jeannette; 2 children, Douglas (Sheri) Rudder of Fairfield and Cynthia (John) Deatherage of Blackfoot, ID; a daughter-in-law, Becky Rudder of Holden, MA; 6 grandchildren; siblings, Patricia Johnson of Kentucky, Naomi Lou Hampton of St. Charles, MO, Charles Rudder of Australia and Barbara Smith of Illinois.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Jonathan Rudder; siblings, Gary Rudder, Richard Rudder and Robert Rudder.
Private burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery in Birmingham.
