James Edward Johnson, 61, of Pella, died at 9:24 a.m. August 28, 2026 at The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.
He was born March 4, 1965 in Ottumwa to Jeremiah and Gracie Jean Abbott Johnson.
A graduate of Ottumwa High School, James had lived a short time in Fremont, NE before moving back to Iowa. He had worked at Moulton High School and for over the past 10 years he at worked in security at Pella Corp. in Pella.
James enjoyed working on his collections and was a sci-fi fan.
Surviving is his brother, Orville Johnson of Ottumwa; three nephews, Jacob Johnson (Ashley Phillips) of Agency, Jarod Johnson (Angela Prasch) of Moulton and Justin Johnson of Ottumwa; a great niece, Georgia Grace Johnson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Neada Kay Shull; two nieces, Nicole Whitney Van Der Horst and Andrea Lynn Van Der Horst; and sister-in-law, Christi Johnson.
His body has been cremated and services are not planned.
