Motorists across portions of southeast and northeast Iowa should use caution this morning as dense fog is reducing visibility in several counties.
The National Weather Service has issued a Dense Fog Advisory until 9:00 a.m. Friday for Black Hawk, Bremer, Mahaska, Wapello, and Davis counties, including the communities of Ottumwa, Oskaloosa, Bloomfield, Waterloo, Cedar Falls, and Waverly.
Visibility may drop to less than one-half mile, creating hazardous driving conditions during the morning commute.
Drivers are urged to slow down, use low-beam headlights, and leave extra distance between vehicles. Officials also recommend allowing additional travel time and remaining alert for rapidly changing visibility.
The advisory is scheduled to expire at 9:00 a.m., though motorists should continue to monitor conditions if traveling early this morning.
