Beverly Lois Harter, 84 of Keokuk, IA passed away Friday, August 7, 2026 at River Hills Village in Keokuk.
She was born January 17, 1942 in Keokuk, IA the daughter of Ed and Wilma Shafer Humphrey. Beverly graduated from Keokuk High School with the class of 1960 and then attended Southeastern Community College.
On June 26, 1960, Beverly was united in marriage to Ray Harter. He preceded her in death on September 2, 2016.
A woman of deep faith, Beverly was a longtime and devoted member of Melrose Global Methodist Church in Argyle, IA, where she formed many lasting friendships over the years.
Beverly loved working in her flower gardens and took great pride in keeping her yard looking its best. She never passed up the opportunity for a good card game, especially Hand and Foot or Euchre, and always enjoyed the time spent visiting and laughing with family and friends. More than anything, Beverly loved her family and treasured every moment with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her faithful companion, Berkley, was never far from her side and held a special place in her heart.
She is survived by one daughter, Lori Seabold of Keokuk, one son, Jeffrey Harter (Patty) of Jacksonville, NC, seven grandchildren, Justin Harter, Lacey (Josh) Harnish, Alyssia Caley, Adam (Kacey) Seabold, Mikaela Harter, Breanna (Andrew) Kemp and Brooklyn Seabold, six great-grandchildren, Gavin and Landon Harnish, Remington and Maxine Seabold and Levi and Ellie Kemp. Besides her husband, she was also preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Gary Humphrey.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk with Pastor John Abraham officiating.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the family meeting with friends during that time.
