Valoyce Allen, 97, of Oskaloosa, passed away on July 9, 2026, at the Oskaloosa Care Center.
Valoyce Anne Allen, daughter of John and Nellie (Gardner) Nedderman, was born on October 23, 1928, in Monroe County, Iowa. She was a 1946 graduate of Lovilia High School and later attended Iowa Methodist Nursing School in Des Moines, graduating in 1949. She began her nursing career at the VA Hospital in Knoxville, where she worked for three years. It was during this time that she married her husband, Paul Dennis Allen, on June 30, 1951, in Knoxville. They made their home in Knoxville, and she was hired at the Collins Hospital in Knoxville. Valoyce worked in nursing for 44 years, with the last 10 years part-time. She retired in May 1993.
Throughout their lifetime, Valoyce and Paul enjoyed following their sons as they participated in Panther sports, and RV camping and boating at Lake Red Rock and in Arizona. She also enjoyed reading and knitting. Upon her retirement, the couple moved to Apache Junction, Arizona, full-time. Valoyce returned to Iowa in early 2026 and made her home at Homestead Assisted Living in Oskaloosa, where she enjoyed reconnecting with old friends. She recently moved to Oskaloosa Care Center.
Her family includes her four sons: Larro Allen of Apache Junction, AZ, Bruce (Denise) Allen of Bettendorf, Iowa; Randy (Kim) Allen of Knoxville, IA; and Scott (Diane) Allen of Newburg, OR; nine grandchildren: Josh, Jayme, Dustin, Bret, Terra, Corey, Brian, Leanne, Brittany and McKenzie; and several special great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Valoyce was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Paul, and two brothers.
As was her wish, Valoyce’s body has been cremated, and services will be held privately. Langkamp Funeral Chapel & Crematory has been entrusted with her arrangements.
