Steven Frank Ward, beloved brother, uncle and friend, passed away peacefully at home on July 17, 2026 in Farmington, Minnesota at the age of 78.
Born in 1947 in Burlington, Iowa, he was the first of ten cherished Ward siblings. Steve grew up in Ottumwa, Iowa in a household filled with love and strong values for which he carried through out his life. Steve graduated from Walsh high school in 1966. As a proud veteran of the United States Army he served his country with honor and dedication.
In 1972 Steve married the love of his life, Charlene Chloe (Burton) Ward. Together, they shared a beautiful journey for 37 years and her memory remained close to his heart.
Those who knew Steve will remember him for his character, his enduring friendships, and the moments of joy he brought to many.
Steve was preceded in death by his wife Charlene Ward, loving parents Marie and Stanley Ward, his beloved sister Eva J. (Ward) Delano. Steve is survived by his siblings; Mary Ward, Tim Ward (Pam), Nadine Stark (Dan), Sue Ellen Salisbury (Jeff), Ron Ward (Deby), Chris Ward, Phillip Ward, Shelley Gramke (Jerry) and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to extend heartfelt gratitude to Mike Ostbloom and Deena Cole for welcoming Steve into their loving home and family and providing him with care and support throughout the past years. He was affectionately known to them and his many close friends as SCUBA .
A memorial service with military honors to celebrate Steve’s life will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you find a reason to smile, perform an act of kindness in Steve’s honor or simply just have a cold beer with a friend and some great conversation.
