Keokuk County mayors, city council members, the Board of Supervisors, and the Keokuk County Sheriff’s Office will hold a joint meeting Thursday, July 9th at 7:00 p.m. in the Keokuk County Courtroom on the third floor of the Keokuk County Courthouse in Sigourney to discuss law enforcement coverage in the county.
The meeting was requested by Keota Mayor Ryan Carr and Hedrick Mayor Mike Spilman. Officials plan to discuss ideas and potentially reach a solution regarding county law enforcement protection through a City/County 28E Agreement, which would establish guaranteed hours and fees for law enforcement services.
The meeting is open to the public, confirmed by State Representative Helena Hayes. While public comments and questions will not be accepted during the meeting, community members are encouraged to attend and listen. Keokuk County Emergency Management also shared the notice, emphasizing government transparency and encouraging county residents to stay informed.
