The Keokuk County Hospice Foundation has awarded $2,000 scholarships to six Keokuk County graduating seniors pursuing careers in the medical field, according to a social media post from the organization.
The foundation awards the scholarship to graduating seniors who plan to enter fields such as physical therapy, medicine, nursing, pharmacy, radiology, and other healthcare-related careers. Recipients are also eligible to apply for an additional $2,000 scholarship after completing their freshman year of college to help fund their sophomore year.
This year’s recipients are:
From Keota, Gavin Sieren will study biomedical engineering at the University of Iowa, and Dakota Dodd will attend Kirkwood Community College to study physical therapy.
From Pekin, Katelyn Schultz plans to study nursing for her RN/BSN at Indian Hills Community College, and Cole Millikin will attend Southeastern Community College for exercise science and physical therapy.
From Sigourney, Kayla Renner will study to become a pharmacist at the University of Iowa, and Charli Smothers will attend Kirkwood Community College for nursing to earn her RN/BSN.
The Keokuk County Hospice Foundation congratulated all six recipients and wished them well in their studies.
