With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Claudette Burgess, who left us on July 9, 2026, seventeen days shy of her 85th birthday. Claudette, a longtime in Tomball, Tx and also Albia, Iowa, was a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend to many.
Despite her many years of widowhood, Claudette never lost her zest for life. Her love for photography allowed her to capture the beauty of the world around her, and her adventurous spirit often led her to the thrill of the casino or the peaceful tranquility of a fishing trip. Above all, Claudette’s heart belonged to her family. The bond she shared with her late daughter was one of the greatest joys of her life, and her grandchildren brought her endless happiness. Claudette’s love and devotion to her family will be remembered and cherished always.
She is survived by her two grandchildren, Julian (Clara) Brendel, Jacob Waters; Iona Adrian, Carol Wehr. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter; daughter, Tammy Burgess; sister, Margaret Stilwell; brother, Bud Colbert.
Claudette has been cremated and a private inurnment will take place in Oakview Cemetery in Albia.
