Terry Lee Abel 63, of Ottumwa died at 10:22 p.m. June 9, 2026 at his home.
He was born February 3, 1963 in Ottumwa to John Harl Abel and Gwendolyn Elizabeth Moulton Abel. He married Diane Denise Oliver and she preceded him in death.
Growing up in Ottumwa, he worked as a custodian at the University of Iowa in Iowa City. Terry had lived in Texas and California for almost a year then moving to Louisiana and had owned and operated a flooring business. Moving back to Ottumwa he attended cosmetology school and worked at Regis.
Terry enjoyed tinkering, wood working and junking. He was always looking for bargains and looking for something that needed refurbished.
Surviving is his daughter, Ashlee Abel of Ottumwa; granddaughter, Teyha Abel; a great granddaughter, Akiyra Denise Harnden; siblings, Liz (Troy) Barker, Phil (Julia) Morrison, Joel (Suzie) Morrison, J.P. Abel and Jim Morrison; along with many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Velma Abel and Gwen and Ray Morrison; an infant brother, Thomas; and a stepbrother, Wesley White.
His body has been cremated and services are not planned at this time.
