Ottumwa Regional Health Center (ORHC), in partnership with the Regional Service Guild, recently recognized five Ottumwa High School seniors with scholarships to support their future careers in nursing.
During a HyNoon Kiwanis luncheon held at Hotel Ottumwa last month, students Lorvia Marius, Marlene Reyes, Diana Ruiz, Alondra Ruiz, and Marina Reyes were each awarded a $1,000 scholarship through the Ottumwa HyNoon Kiwanis Scholarship Program.
ORHC leadership joined community members in celebrating the students’ accomplishments and their commitment to pursuing careers in healthcare. Hospital officials praised the recipients for their academic success, dedication to service, and passion for helping others.
“These students are stepping into healthcare with purpose, compassion, and a genuine commitment to caring for others,” said ORHC Chief Executive Officer Richard Bergmann. “We are proud to support their journey and excited to see the impact they will make in the years ahead.”
Chief Nursing Officer Jessica Kendrick said the students represent the future of healthcare in the community and will make a meaningful difference in the lives of patients and families.
Ottumwa Regional Health Center and the Regional Service Guild say they remain committed to investing in local students and helping strengthen the region’s future healthcare workforce.
As the scholarship recipients prepare to begin the next chapter of their education, community leaders say their dedication and enthusiasm serve as an encouraging sign for the future of nursing in southeast Iowa.
