The Ottumwa Police Department says a New York man was found with dangerous items and drugs while committing an offense over the weekend.

Long Qiu, 33, of Flushing, New York, was charged with explosive material or destructive devices (aggravated misdemeanor), two counts of person ineligible to carry dangerous weapons (serious misdemeanor), and possession of drug paraphernalia (simple misdemeanor).

On June 27th at approximately 12:20 PM, police say Qui’s vehicle was reported to be parked on a public roadway (the 1300 block of Vaughn Drive) for an extended period of time. Upon contact with Qui, officers reportedly saw a .22 caliber air rifle, a pellet gun, and a smoking device containing methamphetamine in plain view.

Authorities conducted a probable cause search and allegedly found two homemade Molotov cocktails.

Qiu was arrested and transported to the Wapello County Jail. His bail has been set at $10,000.

Qiu has a preliminary hearing scheduled for July 9th.
