An Ollie man is facing a drug charge after being taken into custody in a Fairfield parking lot early Friday morning.
Joseph Winn, 45, of Ollie has been charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance — Methamphetamine, First Offense, a serious misdemeanor.
According to court documents, officers made contact with Winn in the parking lot of a gas station on the south side of Fairfield at approximately 2:35 a.m. on June 5th. A records check revealed Winn had an active arrest warrant for Theft in the Third Degree issued through the Ottumwa Police Department, and he was taken into custody on that warrant.
A search of his person incident to arrest turned up approximately 5.63 grams of methamphetamine in his pants pocket, as well as a glass smoking device containing burnt crystalline residue. Winn admitted ownership of the methamphetamine and stated it was intended for personal use, according to court documents.
Winn is being held on cash or surety bail of $1,000. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 15th.
