A Keokuk County man is facing multiple charges following an alleged assault on Saturday morning.

Randy Buck, 34, of Kinross has been charged with Assault Causing Bodily Injury or Mental Illness, a serious misdemeanor, and Interference with Official Acts, a simple misdemeanor.

According to court documents, deputies responded to a disturbance in Kinross at approximately 10:37 a.m. on June 20th. Upon arrival, Buck was described as belligerent. An investigation revealed visible redness and a small cut on the victim’s left elbow consistent with being struck by an object. The victim told deputies they had been hit with a broom, which was found inside the residence. The victim also reported that Buck had approached and threatened them with a hatchet, which Buck led deputies to in his room, according to court documents.

Buck also allegedly resisted both jail staff and law enforcement at the Keokuk County Sheriff’s Department during the booking process, exiting the booking room and resisting being placed in a cell. He also refused to remove his belt and shoes as required by jail policy, and staff had to remove them from him, according to court documents.

Buck is being held on a $1,000 cash or surety bond and has been served with a temporary no contact order. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 1st.
