The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is warning the public after counterfeit cash was passed at a local school sporting event, according to the department.
The fake bills are $20 denominations labeled “For Motion Picture Purposes” — prop money that closely resembles real currency in both look and feel. The sheriff’s office shared photos of the bills side by side with genuine currency to help the public spot the difference.
Anyone who receives a suspicious or counterfeit bill is asked to contact their local law enforcement agency.
