The Fairfield Municipal Band will kick off its summer concert series on Tuesday, June 30th at Central Park, according to Visit Fairfield CVB.
Sponsored by the Fairfield Parks and Recreation Department, the band draws musicians from Fairfield and the surrounding area — a mix of adults, high school students, and college students who share a love of live performance. Under the direction of Jim Edgeton, a former Fairfield High School band director who has continued leading the group since his retirement in 2021, the band plays a wide-ranging repertoire that spans everything from patriotic marches to contemporary arrangements of popular music.
The current Fairfield Municipal Band was founded in 1987 under the direction of Ron Prill, and has been a summer staple in Central Park ever since. Central Park is the heart of Fairfield’s Cultural District and hosts the band’s weekly summer concerts as one of its signature annual traditions.
Concerts will be held Tuesday evenings from 8:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Ron Prill Bandstand at the Central Park Gazebo on the Fairfield Square for six consecutive weeks. The series runs through August 4th and is free and open to the public. Ice cream vendors will be on site during the concerts. Community members are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and enjoy a night of live music with friends and neighbors.
The full schedule is as follows: June 30th, July 7th, July 14th, July 21st, July 28th, and August 4th. The final concert on August 4th will feature a special appearance by the Fairfield Jazz Band beginning at 7:00 p.m., followed by the Municipal Band at 8:00 p.m.
