A Fairfield man is facing a felony charge following a child sexual abuse investigation conducted by the Fairfield Police Department, according to a press release from Interim Chief Joel Smith.

Tyler Hartman, 29, has been charged with Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Child, a Class B Felony.

On Tuesday, June 16th, officers received allegations of sexual abuse involving an adult male and a juvenile victim. Over the course of the following three days, officers conducted multiple interviews and developed sufficient probable cause to obtain a search warrant. Evidence gathered through the execution of that warrant led to Hartman’s arrest.

According to court documents, the alleged conduct spans approximately ten months, from May 2025 through March 2026, during which time the victim was a child. Court documents indicate that Hartman admitted to the abuse occurring on at least seven occasions over that period.

Hartman was transported to the Jefferson County Jail, where he is being held on a $25,000 cash or surety bond. A no-contact order has been requested in the case. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 30th.
