The University of Northern Iowa is bringing its Panther Prowl Football Camp to Fairfield this summer, and Fairfield High School head football coach Matt Jones says he couldn’t be more excited to host it.
The camp is scheduled for Saturday, July 11th from 9:00 a.m. to noon at the Fairfield High School practice fields. It is open to any student, regardless of school, entering grades three through eight in the fall of 2026, and the cost is $55. Registration is available at www.unifbcamps.com.
The camp will be led by UNI player Jaxon Dailey and several of his Panther teammates, who will serve as coaches for the morning session. Jones said the connection to Fairfield made the opportunity especially meaningful.
“I was thrilled when Jaxon Dailey got in touch with me and wanted to do a youth camp in Fairfield,” Jones said. “Jaxon went to Fairfield as a very young boy before his family moved to Southeast Polk. Jaxon and some UNI teammates will come and coach this football camp. Football’s a great game and can teach us so much about ourselves and about being a great teammate and giving it your best shot.”
The Dailey family’s ties to Fairfield run deep. Jaxon’s father, Mike Dailey, addressed the Fairfield football team at their kickoff meeting and is himself a Fairfield product — a multi-sport athlete who went on to play linebacker for the University of Iowa. Jones also noted a personal connection to the UNI program: his brother Jeff coaches strength and speed at UNI and works directly with Jaxon.
“It is going to be fun to welcome Jaxon and his teammates to Fairfield,” Jones said. “I hope we get a great turnout. Really looking forward to this day.”
