Iowa farmers a little behind on planting

The planting place is slightly behind normal in Iowa.

USDA’s latest weekly crop update shows corn at 42 percent planted, compared to the five-year average of 44 percent.

Soybean planting reached 27 percent, compared to 29 percent normally.

Corn emergence, at two percent, also trails the usual pace of four percent.

Oat planting is slightly faster than normal at 88 percent complete.
