Richard Harold Reed, 88, of Ottumwa died at 6:27 a.m. May 14, 2026 at his home.
He was born September 21, 1937 in Ottumwa to Harold and Gladys Hill Reed. He married Kay Margaret Hannam September 21, 1958 and she preceded him in death August 17, 1999. Dick married Patricia Kelso June 9, 2000.
A 1956 graduate of Ottumwa High School, Dick served in the US Navy for 6 years and the National Guard for 16 years. He worked 30 years at John Deere Ottumwa Works.
Dick attended St. Patrick Catholic Church.
Surviving is his wife, Pat; his children, Lisa Hancock, Sherry (Robert) Ludwig and Daniel (Cindy) Reed; step-children, Tracy (Rene) York, Kevin (Candace) York and Joseph Kelso; many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; siblings, Lois (Jim) Proctor and Mary Stocker.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Marcy Wilkins; and a grandson, Ricky Reed.
Visitation will be open after 10 a.m. Monday, May 18th at Reece Funeral Home. Military honors will be conducted at 4 p.m. Monday at Reece Funeral Home followed by a time for family to greet friends until 6 p.m. Cremation will follow the visitation.
Memorials may be made to Good Samaritan Society Hospice or Wounded Warrior Project.
