Bertha Louise Bowen, 85, of Ottumwa, died May 24, 2026 at her home.
She was born December 1, 1940 in Ottumwa to Robert L. and Helen Holt Smith. She married Fred Bowen June 22, 1963 and he preceded her in death October 3, 2015.
A resident of Ottumwa all her life, she had worked at Franklin School in the lunchroom.
She enjoyed flower gardening and loved spending with family and friends.
Surviving are two daughters, Candy (Bill) Musgrove and Bobbi Bowen, both of Ottumwa; a daughter-in-law, Cindy Bowen; seven grandchildren, Will, Beth, Andrew, Kasey, D.J., Kari and Melissa; six great grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a step-son, David Bowen and a brother, Bernard Louis Smith.
Visitation will begin 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 27th, at Reece Funeral Home. The family will be present to greet friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday.
Graveside services and burial will be 1 p.m. Thursday, May 28th, at Shaul Cemetery with Pastor Richard Schlotter officiating.
