Alma Jeanne Coffin, 95, of Ottumwa, died at 11:53 p.m. May 18, 2026 at Ottumwa Regional Health Center.
She was born July 7, 1930 in Ottumwa to Ralph Emery and Mary Alma Lames Wilkinson. Alma Jeanne married John Howard Coffin on July 21, 1951 and he preceded her in death on April 1, 1994.
She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church. She had been a foster grandparent at Wildwood School through the American Home Finding Association and received an accommodation for her work from Governor Tom Vilsak in April of 2004.
Surviving are her children, Jeanne Ann Johnson of Muscatine, Greg Coffin of Des Moines and Linda Coffin of Ottumwa; 2 grandchildren, Michael Johnson of Aspers, PA and Eric (Sara) Johnson of Blue Grass, IA; 4 great-grandchildren, Teagan, Piper, Adalyn and Sawyer; along with special friends, Jane Blew-Anderson and Stan & Leu Blew.
Alma Jeanne was preceded in death by her parents; and 5 brothers, Robert, Edward, Ronald, Richard and infant John David Wilkinson.
Her body has been cremated. A Memorial Mass will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Joseph Parrish, formerly St. Patrick Catholic Church or Ottumwa Family YMCA.
