Jacquelyn Ruth Baker, 91, of Ottumwa stepped into the arms of Jesus at 5:43 p.m. August 23, 2026, at the Bloomfield Care Center.
She was born November 7, 1934, in Atchison, KS to James and Alice Lousie Yaple Bean. She married Maurice Augustine “Gus” Baker December 26, 1955, in Atchison, KS. They were blessed with 4 children.
Jackie graduated from high school in 1954 in Atchison, KS. She worked as an office manager for Dr. Wetrich, Dr. McKeown and Dr. Haas for 26 years.
Jackie was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Ottumwa. She volunteered with Hospice Serving Davis and Wapello Counties, at one time earning hospice volunteer of the year. Jackie was also a member and former president and secretary of Ottumwa Regional Health Center Auxilliary.
She loved watching birds, quilting, reading and writing poetry. Jackie enjoyed working outside in the yard, especially in her garden. She also enjoyed watching the Chicago Cubs and was a lifelong member of the YoYo’s.
Surviving are her children, Cathy (Dan) Roberts of Troy, Chris (Angela) Baker of Stuttgart, Germany, Steve (Teri) Baker of Iowa City and Alan (Serena) Baker of Healdsburg, CA; 4 grandchildren, Caitlin (Eli) Kilburg, Regan (Luke) Piper, Clay (Hannah) Roberts and Evan Baker; 6 great grandchildren, Ira, Orson, Dani, Ruby, Oriole and Harv.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Jim Bean.
Visitation will be open at 11 a.m. Thursday August 27th at Reece Funeral Home with family present to greet friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday August 28th at Calvary Baptist Church with Pastor Mel Kendall officiating. Burial will be in Troy Cemetery at 1 p.m. Friday.
Memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church or Good Samaritan Society Home Health Hospice.
