Mavis Todd, 92, of Oskaloosa, passed away Saturday evening, April 25, 2025, at Crystal Heights Care Center in Oskaloosa, Iowa.

Mavis Marlene Todd, daughter of Bonnie Grace Doud, was born April 15, 1934, in Oskaloosa. Her mother went to work for Rolla Whitsel when Mavis was 1 ½ years old, and Bonnie and Rolla were married sometime later. Ralla had two sons, Allen Boyd and Willard Glen, so Mavis got two older brothers. Mavis married William Archer Todd on February 18, 1951. They made their home in Oskaloosa and had two children: a daughter, Marlene, and a son, William Jr. They later moved to Indianola, where they lived for 14 years; while there, they divorced. She then returned to Oskaloosa, where she worked in the ultrasound area at the Continental Overall Factory. After Continental closed, Mavis was employed at Pella Rolscreen; after 14 years there, she retired due to health concerns.

Mavis lived in the country near Oskaloosa and was very self-sufficient. She mowed her yard and, in the winter, shoveled the snow. Mavis always enjoyed cats and the many pets she had over the years. Although she hated to move, because of her health, Mavis sold her home in the country and moved to Oskaloosa in 2008. After moving to Oskaloosa, she enjoyed reading and playing dice games with her family and friends.

She is survived by her son, William Todd Jr. of Indianola; four grandchildren: Joe (Melinda) York of Sparta, MO; Brett (Lindsey) Herny of Oskaloosa, IA; Rebecca (Zack) Wilson of Bloomfield, IA, and Jessica King of Indianola. She was blessed with eight great-grandchildren: McKenzie and Rylea York; Blake, Brody, and Boston Herny; Kara Das; and Wesley, Emmaline, and Chase King.

Funeral Services for Mavis will be held at 2 p.m., on Thursday, April 30, 2026, at Langkamp Funeral Chapel with Pastor Jack Munson of Central Church officiating. Burial will be at Henness Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour before the service, from 1-2 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Stephen Memorial Animal Shelter.
