Monday Outlook
Monday is shaping up to be the most significant severe weather day.
- Severe risk level: Enhanced Risk (Level 3 of 5)
- Timing: Storms possible all day, with the most intense activity between 12 p.m. and 6 p.m.
- Coverage: Numerous severe storms are expected, especially east of I-35
Main Hazards
- Large hail (2 to 3.5 inches possible)
Hail will be the most widespread and persistent threat, especially north of I-80. - Damaging winds over 60 mph, with the strongest winds expected farther east
- Tornadoes, including the potential for strong tornadoes (up to EF3), especially in southeast Iowa
Storms will continue moving northeast at around 45 mph.
Flooding Concerns
- Heavy rainfall rates may approach 1 inch per hour in some storms
- Localized totals over 3 inches possible
- Main risk is urban and street flooding, not widespread river flooding
- Some creeks and rivers may experience noticeable rises
