The Fairfield High School Student Council will host the Fifth Annual Walk for Nohema this Saturday, April 18th at Chautauqua Park in Fairfield.
The morning begins with a 5K run at 9:30 a.m., with a $5 cash entry fee collected upon arrival. The walk and silent auction will follow from 10:00 a.m. to noon. Registration for the 5K takes place the morning of the event at Chautauqua Park.
If weather does not cooperate, the walk and silent auction will move into the Fairfield High School Commons and the 5K run will be canceled. Organizers ask participants to watch for weather-related updates.
The event has been held annually since 2022 as a way to honor former Fairfield High School Spanish teacher Nohema Graber, who passed away in November 2021. Graber was well known for her daily walks through Chautauqua Park after school, which is why the Student Council chose the park as the setting for the event. Each year, T-shirts are sold and a silent auction is held, with proceeds going toward a scholarship established in Graber’s name.
