Eileen Kay Post, 86, of Ottumwa, died at 8:58 a.m. April 20, 2026 at home.
She was born November 2, 1939 in Newton, IA to Harry D. and Hazel Irene Peterson Roberts. She married Benjamine Post December 22, 1963.
A 1957 graduate of Ottumwa High School, Eileen received her nurse’s training at Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines in 1960 and began working at Ottumwa Regional Health Center. She then worked at Hennepin County Medical Center, Eitel Hospital and Unity Hospital in Minneapolis before returning to work at Ottumwa Regional Health Center, retiring in 1996.
Eileen was a member of North Court Baptist Church and a member and past National President of the Women’s Relief Corps.
She enjoyed puzzle books, crocheting, canning and baking cookies.
Surviving is her husband, Benjamine; their children, Joleen Post, Douglas Post, both of Ottumwa, Jodell Heckethorn of Eldon; 8 grandchildren, Lanette Starr, Lindsey Kiechle, Alexander Heckethorn, Khloe Heckethorn, Joshua Walls, Brittany Wagner, T. C. Songer, Mitchell Songer; 5 great grandchildren, Jason Pickrell, Jade Davis, Allie Sue Thompson, James Ray Thompson, Joshua James Picken; a brother Laris Roberts of MT.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Jannell Keichle; 3 sisters, Charlene Ellis, Carol Faye Percel, Barbara Jean Dyer; a brother, Larry Roberts.
Visitation will begin 11 a.m. Friday, April 24th, at Reece Funeral Home with the family present to greet friends from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Friday.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, April 25th, at North Court Baptist Church. Cremation will follow the service.
Inurnment will be in Mars Hill Cemetery at a later date.
Memorials may be made to North Court Baptist Church or Missionary Lloyd Peace.
