Authorities responded to a domestic disturbance in a rural Wapello County community, where a reported physical altercation left one person injured.

On April 27 at approximately 6:45 p.m., the Wapello County Sheriff’s Department was dispatched to the 300 block of South KD Street in Eldon in response to a domestic abuse assault.

According to a criminal complaint, deputies arrived on scene and made contact with the victim. The victim reported that she had been struck twice in the face with a fist by Jerry Bledsoe, 59, of Eldon.

Court documents state that the incident left the victim with redness to her left ear and swelling on the left side of her head.

Court papers also note that when Bledsoe was later located by authorities, he admitted to pushing the victim onto a couch during an argument.

Bledsoe was taken into custody and is currently being held at the Wapello County Jail on a $1,000 cash/surety bond.

A no-contact order was issued on April 28. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 7.

Bledsoe is charged with Domestic Abuse Assault causing injury or mental illness, first offense, a serious misdemeanor.
