Gary Lee Counts was reported missing on May 3, 1994, following a boating incident in Fort Madison, Iowa. Despite extensive efforts, his body was never recovered.
Gary was 42 years old at the time of his disappearance. He was born on November 28, 1951, and is described as a white male standing 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighing approximately 180 pounds. He had brown hair, blue eyes, and a one-inch scar on his abdomen. He was last known to be wearing blue jeans and a sweatshirt.
The incident occurred within the jurisdiction of the Fort Madison Police Department in Lee County. Although Gary’s remains were never found, his family later placed a gravestone in his memory at Oakland Cemetery in Fort Madison.
Gary was survived by his wife, Shelley, who, along with other family members, continues to seek answers.
