Authorities responded to a reported harassment incident that escalated into a physical confrontation involving an alleged weapon.

On February 13 at approximately 4:17 p.m., the Marion County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to Vermont Drive in Marysville for a harassment incident.

Jeremy Brumley, 36, of Hamilton, was identified as the suspect. According to law enforcement, Brumley committed an assault while displaying a dangerous weapon. Court documents state that Brumley confronted the victim about an incident that had occurred several months earlier. During the confrontation, Brumley allegedly punched the victim twice in the face and head, causing minor injuries. A witness then pushed Brumley away from the victim.

Court filings indicate that Brumley removed a knife from his pocket and opened it. He allegedly took an aggressive stance, causing the victim to fear he was about to be assaulted with the knife. Records further state that Brumley told both the victim and the witness that he could cut their throats and that he was not afraid to go back to prison.

Brumley was arrested and is currently being held in the Marion County Jail on a $4,000 bond. A no-contact order was issued on February 16, and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for February 24. He is charged with first-degree harassment, an aggravated misdemeanor, and assault while displaying a dangerous weapon, also an aggravated misdemeanor.
