Gary D. “Tex” Redlinger,83, of Wellman, passed from this life on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at the Harvest Nursing and Rehab Center. A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 21, 2026, at 10:00 AM at the Peterseim Funeral Home in Kalona. The service will be available via Livestream at the Beatty Peterseim YouTube and Facebook pages. Burial will follow at the Sharon Hill Cemetery in Kalona. Visitation will be held on Friday, February 20, 2026, from 4 – 7 PM at the Peterseim Funeral Home in Kalona. A memorial fund has been established for the Washington County Sheriff’s Department K-9 unit.

Gary Dean Redlinger was born June 16, 1942, in Washington, Iowa, the son of Clarence and Myrtle (Huber) Redlinger. He graduated from Keota High School and served in the United States Army National Guard. He was married to Carolita Sheetz, and they later divorced. On March 22, 1983, he was united in marriage to Deanna Yoder, but the couple later divorced. Tex drove a gas truck for Standard Oil, worked at River Products, and then served as a deputy with the Washington County Sheriff’s Department for 22 years. After retiring, he ran a bulldozer for Boyse Excavating and Trucking. He enjoyed racing stock cars in the MVSC, hunting, fishing, golfing, boating, showing ponies, and trap shooting.

Survivors include three daughters: Jenny (Dane) Miller, Julie Redlinger, Janelle (Mitch) Wayt, four grandchildren: Gavin and Abel Miller, Chloe Weber, and Ellisyn Wayt, and former wife Deanna Poe.

Preceding Tex in death were his parents, an infant son, Eric, brother Rodney Redlinger, and sister Roberta Goodwin.
