It is with love in our hearts and cherished memories in our minds that we celebrate the life of Timothy Ray Kopp, affectionately known as “FatBoy,” born on January 14, 1975, in Ottumwa, IA.

Timothy was a beacon of joy, love, and laughter, whose vivacious spirit touched everyone he met. Timothy was a loving and dedicated individual who was known for his funny antics and loyal nature. He spent 13 memorable years working at Dr Pepper in manufacturing and packing, until he was taken ill in 2016. He spent many years before that working at Excel. Tim met Crystal Marks in late 2000 & they married on May 24, 2003. They spent almost 26 years together before his passing January, 3 2026. Outside of work, Timothy was a passionate hobbyist with a zest for life that was truly contagious. His love for Darts saw him play in the dart league from the young age of 18, and his talent extended to winning numerous Karaoke contests and Dart tournaments. As a DJ, he lit up the stages of Betty B’s, Uncle Bucks, Red Shed, Chommy’s, Doghouse, Coconanas, and many more. He was an avid gamer, immersing himself in games such as World of Warcraft, Diablo, and Dungeons & Dragons, often alongside his sons.

However, what mattered most to Timothy was his family. His love for his wife, four children, and two granddaughters was profound and unwavering. He derived immense joy from video chatting with his son serving in the Army and his granddaughter. Despite his health issues, Timothy remained strong and resilient, forever prioritizing the well-being of his family. His dedication to them was his greatest achievement, marking him as an exemplary husband, father, and friend. Timothy was a mainstay of the communities in Ottumwa, Richland, and Hedrick, Iowa, where he lived. He was a man who didn’t know a stranger, always open to meeting new people and lending a helping hand where he could. His tenacity and determination were evident through his health struggles, as he remained hopeful and resolute, continually fighting to be there for his loved ones.

Tim was survived by his wife Crystal Kopp; his 3 sons, Dominick Marks, Quenton & Julia Hall, Hayden Kopp, & 1 daughter Shaelynn Kopp & Austin Lanman; two Grandaughters, Evelynn Kopp Lanman & Emma Hall; three sisters Shawna Stephens, Sherry Wilhite,& Elizabeth Kopp; three brothers, Mike Vonk, Buckley Kopp, & David Henriksen, and special cousin Tony Kopp. Tim was preceded in death by his parents Margie Bergmeier & Daniel Kopp; a sister, Angie Ferguson; Grandparents, Charles “Chuck” & Elizabeth Kopp & Kenneth & Emma Bergmeier.

Tim has been cremated with no planned services at this time. Sinnott Funeral Home of Ottumwa assisted Tim’s family with arrangements, serving all of southern Iowa. As we remember Timothy, we invite you to join us in celebrating his life by sharing your memories, stories, and photographs of him on his memorial page. Let us remember him as he was – a loving, dedicated, funny, and fiercely loyal individual who enriched our lives with his vibrant spirit.
