Wind chills across the area are expected to range from 15 below to as cold as 30 below zero. At those levels, frostbite can occur on exposed skin in as little as 10 minutes. Residents are urged to use extreme caution when outdoors and to dress in layers, including hats and gloves.
Today’s high is expected to reach 20 degrees, with temperatures dropping to around 9 overnight. Tuesday will see a high near 21, with a low of 5. Conditions remain cold Wednesday with a high of 29 and a low of 4. Thursday brings a high of 19 and an overnight low near zero, while Friday stays frigid with a high of 16 and a low of zero.
Some gradual warming is expected over the weekend. Saturday’s high is forecast near 23 degrees, with temperatures climbing to 34 degrees by Sunday.
