The Iowa Department of Natural Resources is accepting public comments on the proposed return to operation of the former Fairfield Iron Foundry, now operated by HyCast Foundry, LLC, located at 905 W. Depot Ave.
Public Comment Period Extended
The public comment period has been extended and will remain open through February 2nd. This extension provides community members additional time to review the proposed permit and submit their input to the DNR before a final decision is made.

What This Means
This public hearing and comment period represents an opportunity for Fairfield community members to learn more about HyCast Foundry’s proposed operation and share their perspectives before the Iowa DNR makes a final decision on the air quality permit.
The foundry facility at 905 W. Depot Ave. was formerly operated as Fairfield Iron Foundry. HyCast Foundry, LLC now seeks to return the facility to operation under new ownership.
Community input gathered during this process will be considered by the DNR as part of its permit evaluation and decision-making process.
