Marita Marie Ruble, 75, of Ottumwa, died at 4:26 p.m. January 2, 2026 at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
She was born November 30, 1950 in Ottumwa to Donald Marion and Margaret Lucille McCarty Bix. She married Larry Ruble December 14, 1996 and he preceded her in death July 19, 2006.
A resident of Ottumwa all of her life, Marita had worked 10 years in housekeeping at Good Samaritan Society-Ottumwa.
She was a member of Isaac Walton League and Dive Iowa.
Marita is survived by Bob (Ruby) Bix, Sandy (Steve) Wright, Mike (Gloria) Bix, all of Ottumwa; honorary children, Bob, Shawn, and Angie Wright; honorary grandchildren whom she considered her own, C.J, Cody, Emily, Bubba, and Jax; her best friend, Teresa Johnston; her beloved dog, Otis. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, family members and friends who will miss and cherish the beautiful memories she leaves behind.
A shining light has gone out in this world, but heaven must be shining oh so much brighter.
She was preceded in death by her parents; 4 sisters, Eva Mae Bix, Rozetta Bix, Shelva Sly, Judy Greer; 2 brothers, Jack and Ross Bix.
Her body has been cremated and no services are planned at this time.
