Floy Laree “Lee” Huff was born on November 3, 1925, to Homer and Emma McVey Downing. She attended country school before returning home to help with on the farm. She married the love of her life, Allen Huff on March 10, 1945. Together they were the proud parents of eleven children. Lee was a loving mother and homemaker who worked hard to raise the family while Allen was working as an over- the-road truck driver. When Allen was gone, he would find a gift to bring home which began her collection of salt and pepper shakers. Lee and Allen had 30 wonderful years together until Allen’s death in 1975. With the children getting older she returned to the workforce to help support the family. She worked for several years at Knock on Wood in Bloomfield before completing her nursing assistant training. She then began working in the nursing home and county home setting caring for those in need. Lee spent all her life in Van Buren County but found her home in Milton, IA. She enjoyed playing cards and caring for her grandchildren. She gave back to the community she loved delivering meals to seniors up until she was 92 years old. In her later years she looked forward to car rides to craft shows or just around Van Buren County. She spent over 100 years on this Earth making an impact in the lives of those she met along the way. She will be deeply missed by her family and those lucky enough to call her friend.
