Fairfield City Council Holds Organizational Meeting, Establishes 2026 Committee Assignments

The Fairfield City Council held a special organizational meeting on Friday, January 2nd, 2026, to conduct the first business of the new year, establishing meeting schedules, making key appointments, and assigning council members to various committees.

Meeting Schedule

The council unanimously approved a regular meeting schedule for 2026, establishing meetings for the second and fourth Mondays of each month as they were previously.

Key Appointments

The council made no changes as they made several appointments to key city positions:

  • City Clerk: Rebekah Loper
  • City Attorney: John Morrissey
  • Chief of Police: David Thomas
  • City Health Physician: Dr. James Trent

The council also scheduled appointments to boards and commissions, with those meetings set to take place later throughout January.
