Donna Marie Nikkel, 89, of Ottumwa died at 10:06 p.m. December 23, 2025 at Good Samaritan Society – Ottumwa, just 4 days shy of her 90th birthday.
She was born December 27, 1935 in Pulaski, IA to Daniel Franklin and Lola Marie Saylor Knupp. She married Charles Knedler in 1953 and they later divorced. Of this union, 2 daughters were born.
After suffering a stroke in May of 2022, she was left unable to communicate but was very religious and had loved to read the Bible. Her love of God filled her home.
Surviving is her daughter, and many grandchildren; great grandchildren; great great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter and an infant grandchild. Being the firstborn of 4, Donna had outlived her 2 brothers; and her sister.
Her body has been cremated and per her wishes no services will be held.
Private inurnment will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Fairfield at a later date.
