With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Michele Pasut, a beacon of warmth, love, and kindness. She was born on January 7, 1964 to John Daniel and Margaret Alice (Sinnott) Pasut. Michele’s life was a vibrant tapestry of experiences and relationships that touched countless lives in her 61 years. She departed from us on January 2, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love and connection that will continue to inspire all those who were fortunate enough to know her.
Michele graduated from Albia High School, class of 1982. She later enrolled in the Indian Hills Community College RN program. She was a RN at many nursing facilities throughout the area. Michele, a beloved resident of Albia, Iowa, was the heart of her community. She was a devoted member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Albia. Her love for literature was legendary, making her a familiar face at the Albia Public Library. Michele had a zest for life that was infectious. Her younger years were filled with joyful memories of family trips to the lake, laughter echoing over the water. She was the kind of person who never met a stranger – her open heart and spirited conversation made everyone feel like a friend. Most importantly, Michele was a family woman. Her love for her family, especially CJ and Jason, was the cornerstone of her life. She took immense pride in their accomplishments and her joy in their happiness was palpable.
Michele will always be remembered for her warm heart, her compassion, and her unwavering love for her family. She was a woman of strength, courage, and unwavering faith. She had the ability to make each person she met feel special and loved. Michele’s life was a testament to the power of love, family, and community. She leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness that will forever be remembered by her family, friends, and the community of Albia.
Survivors include her parents, John and Marge Pasut; children, CJ (Melissa) Hughes, Jason (Amy) Hughes; grandchildren, Joslynn and Mack Hughes, Findlay and Brody Hughes; siblings, Victoria Gardner, Penelope Conway and Paul Steinhoff, Cynthia Pasut, Michael (Kim) Pasut. Many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends also survive Michele. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Emil and Mary Pesut; maternal grandparents, Leo and Alice Sinnott; brother-in-law, Thomas Conway.
Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m.-10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 10, 2026 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. There will be a rosary recited at 9:15 a.m., by St. Mary’s Altar and Rosary Society. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday at the church at 10:30 a.m., with Father Isaac Essel officiating. Inurnment will be held this spring in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Albia. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
