Bushaw Condemns U.S. Military Action in Venezuela, Calls It an Illegal Regime-Change War for Oil and Minerals

Dave Bushaw, musician and farmland owner from Fayette County running as an Independent for Congress in Iowa’s 2nd Congressional District, issued the following statement in response to reports of U.S. military action in Venezuela:

“Let’s call this what it is: an illegal U.S. invasion and regime-change operation for oil and minerals. Washington isn’t even pretending anymore. This isn’t about democracy or security — it’s about control.

We’ve seen this playbook for the last 20 years. Afghanistan. Iraq. Libya. Different country, same result: chaos abroad, working Americans paying the price, and a handful of powerful interests walking away richer. What makes this even worse is the complete disregard for the Constitution. Congress — not the White House — has the authority to declare acts of war. That requirement has been ignored by both parties for decades, and now we’re close to watching it happen again.” Bushaw said.

“And let’s be clear: this puts American service members — including Iowans — directly in harm’s way so Washington can chase resources and influence overseas. We do not have lives to spare for that. Not now. Not ever.

We already have a country to run. It’s called the United States. The battles worth fighting are here at home — and this is not one of them.”
